The Roxy Cowick Story

The Roxy Cowick Story

Hello, cherished friends. I'm eager to share the heartwarming chapters of my life with you. Texas is my home, and my 21st birthday in 2014 unfolded a tale of resilience and transformation. A diagnosis of Synovial Sarcoma Cancer in my upper right back/chest area set the stage for an unexpected journey.

Amidst the challenges of chemotherapy and radiation, I underwent a physical metamorphosis, shedding around 20 pounds, bringing my weight to a delicate 98 pounds. Post-treatment, a diagnostic scan delivered the news that the mass persisted, leading to an extensive 8-hour surgery in June 2014. The outcome? A successful removal, marking my triumphant victory over cancer.

Yet, the specter of uncertainty lingered, casting shadows of worry about my family and children. Frequent scans became a routine, each one a bittersweet affirmation of my hard-fought recovery. It was a challenging time, but six months later, I found solace in home workouts and eventually rediscovered joy in lifting weights at the gym.

Today, I'm overjoyed to share that I've been cancer-free for 11 years and am fully immersed in the world of USPA powerlifting in the 59kg and 67.5kg weight classes. Recent victories include clinching first place and best lifter titles, setting North Carolina state records with a 385 lb squat, and setting a World record with a 457 lb deadlift.

Now a 3x National champion, I owe my successes to the unwavering support and coaching of my husband, who stood by me, and the unshakeable belief of my children in their mom's strength. This journey has been a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and the unwavering bonds of family.

Cancer may have changed the direction of my life, but it also showed me just how strong I could become. From weighing 98 pounds during treatment to breaking powerlifting records, every step of this journey has reminded me that strength is about so much more than the weight on the bar. It’s about getting back up, moving forward, and never losing belief in what you’re capable of.
