On The Road? Here’s How To Get In Your Workouts

Are You On The Road? Here’s How To Get In Your Workouts! The question is, are you going on a vacation or a pleasure trip? Or does your job require you to travel regularly? Based on how much time you’re traveling and how many overnights there will be, you may find you’ll be missing workouts. That’s a big problem! In this article, we will look at the solutions. Let’s find out more!

Hotel/Resort/Cruise Ship Gym

So, you’re going on a vacation. Maybe you’ll be enjoying a cruise - talk about tons of fun! The good news is that most cruise ships have very impressive gyms. Are you going to a resort instead? You’ll find the same to be true. What if you’re doing something a little less exotic and staying in an average hotel? You may find not all hotel/motel gyms are as well-equipped as you’d like. That’s where some imagination comes into play. You have to do the best you can with the equipment available. If your hotel/motel even has an on-site gym, you might find a bench and a few dumbbells. Or you might find a machine, such as a Cross-Trainer or a typical single-stack home-style gym.

Your first objective here is to get in a full week’s worth of workouts right up until the day before you leave, which means your first few vacation days will be recovery-focused. When it’s time to train again, as noted you will have to make the most of what you have available. That might mean doing many of your usual exercises, or a similar variation, but using lighter weights than you may be used to. You can make it harder by incorporating intensity techniques, such as super-sets or tri-sets. When you fail, use drop sets or rest-pause.

Local Gyms

If you travel consistently for work, you know it may be hard to work out. Or, what if you’re on vacation and staying in an Airbnb? Then a local gym will be your best option. If you’re traveling for work and stay within the same area regularly, you can pick a hotel/motel that is near a gym. Some hotels are right across the parking lot from a gym. If you’re on vacation but in an Airbnb, you can easily find the nearest local gym.

Work Out In Your Room

What if there are no gyms nearby? Bring some resistance bands with you, and do a combo band/bodyweight workout right in your hotel/motel room or Airbnb.

For example, you could try the following routine. You can do this routine as suggested, or you can add as many intensity techniques as you like.

General Warm-Up - 5-10 minutes

Jumping Jacks

Jog In Place

Band Squats

Bodyweight squat warm-up - 1 set x 15 reps

4 working sets x 12-15 reps

Push-Ups

4 working sets x 12-15 reps

Band Overhead Press

3 working sets x 12-15 reps

Band Bent Rows

4 working sets x 12-15 reps

Arm superset

Band Curls super set with Diamond Push-ups

3 supersets x 12-15 reps for each exercise.

Crunch

3 sets x 15 reps

Do you need to do cardio? Take a brisk 30-minute walk around the property, inside or outside depending on the weather.
