Can You Use A Pre-Workout Past The Expiration Date?

Can You Use A Pre-Workout Past The Expiration Date?

Pre-workouts, especially 5% Nutrition pre-workouts, are a cornerstone supplement for most lifters, and for good reason. They do much more than just give you energy, they also enhance focus, improve endurance, promote huge pumps, and improve overall performance. Many also heighten the mind-muscle connection and improve motivation. Like most products, pre-workouts have a shelf life. That leads to the question: Can You Use A Pre-Workout Past The Expiration Date? In this article we’ll answer that and tell you what to watch out for if you have an expired product. We'll also show you the correct way to store your 5% pre-workout.

What Happens If Your Pre-Workout Expires?

As time goes by, pre-workouts deteriorate because of chemical changes in the ingredients. When exposed to changes in temperature or humidity, changes can occur within the active ingredients. What this means is that, as time passes, the product loses potency. You can feel this for yourself if you notice a drop in benefits. While it's true the pre-workout might still be safe to use, its effectiveness becomes compromised.

Don’t Use It If:

Changes In Consistency

If you notice the powder has become hard and brick-like, it’s time to stop using it.

Color Deviation

If you notice a change in the color, it’s time to stop using it.

Odor Changes

If you notice an odd odor, the time has come to stop using it.

Drop In Benefits

If you aren’t getting the same energy, focus, pumps, endurance and performance, and you also notice the changes mentioned above, replace it.

What’s The Expiration Date?

The expiration date that’s printed on the product reveals the recommended shelf life for optimal effectiveness and quality. Expired powders may not necessarily be unsafe but, as noted, the benefits and potency will decrease. That means you’re losing the benefits you bought the product for in the first place. That said, most lifters will be able to go through their 5% pre-workout before it expires. After all, we make some of the best pre-workouts on the market, and most users are hardcore lifters who train multiple days a week. That means you should be able to easily use your 5% pre long before it reaches the expiration date.

How To Store Your Pre-Workout

Store In A Cool and Dry Environment Away From Sources Of Heat

Always store your 5% pre-workout in a cool and dry place. Do not store in hot temperatures. For example, don’t leave it in a hot car in direct sunlight in the middle of summer.

Store In A Stable Temperature

Keep your 5% pre-workout from environments with fluctuating temperatures. Any sources of extreme temperatures can speed up the deterioration of your product.

Always Reseal Tightly After Use

Make sure you reseal your 5% pre-workout tightly after every use. This keeps out air and moisture, which can cause the powder to get hard, and can deteriorate the potency of the ingredients.

Refrigerate In Hot, Humid Environments

If it’s the middle of summer and it’s hot and humid, you can store your 5% Nutrition pre-workout in the refrigerator.

Recap

Using a 5% Nutrition pre-workout can make the difference between good workouts and great ones. If you haven’t used a pre-workout, give it a try and you will never train without one. If you depend on a pre-workout, you know what we mean. To get the most out of the 5% Nutrition pre-workout of your choice, follow these tips, then go Kill It in the gym!
